FAQ

Can I use a cast iron radiator on a modern-day heating system?

Yes, is the short answer. Our radiators are supplied with 1/2inch adaptor bushes to take the later 15mm copper pipework, rather than the large gravity-feed size. They are perfectly compatable with steel panel radiators.

Does it require a specialist plumber to install the old radiators?

No. Any plumber will be able to install your radiators as they come ready with modern 15mm fittings.

Does BSP Deliver?

What do BSP do to restore old cast iron radiators?

Please see our radiator page.

What radiator colours are available?

All colour requirements can be catered for, including the RAL system, Farrow and Ball range and Ardenbrite Paints. We can show you a colour chart so that you can match colours with your decor.

What is the difference between a cast iron radiator and a steel panel rad?

A cast iron radiator will take longer to heat up than a pressed-steel rad, but in saying this, they also store and hold their heat for longer after the system has been switched off.

What is the difference between BTU’s and Watts?

They are both measurements of heat output.
To convert BTU’s to Watts, simply multiply the starting figure by 0.293.
To do the opposite, then divide by 0.293
