Our process involved having to blast clean this to remove any old residue.
Painted it black with appropriate black paint.
We then have hand polished this in our workshop to a burnished finish.
It has been well oiled to prevent rusting.

It has an ornate pattern framing the edges as you can see in the pictures.
Inside the legs of this piece there are unique inlaid tiles, four on each side.
This makes it quite unusual.

On the back of the fireplace it has a plaque

This process may involve us making new fire backs,adding new bars etc. Each one is individual and will treated as such.

We will after blasting to remove any old residues, paint them with a heatproof protective matt black paint.

We can then paint them in a colour of your choice or hand polish them.Whichever suits your taste and interior.

We can restore these using our radiator restoration process as below.

1. Firstly we remove any old fittings, then flush the radiator with high pressure hot water to remove any silt and old deposits that may have built up over the years. Then we fit new 1/2″ reducing bushes ready to accept modern 15mm valves. At this point a visual check for any cracks or defects in the radiator is carried out.

2.If any resizing or known repair work is required it will be done at this stage and the necessary work will be performed on in our dedicated radiator workshop.
3. After this the radiators are then moved into our large capacity blasting unit, where all the layers of paint and any rust & corrosion are carefully removed from the outside of the radiator. Another visual check is undergone at this point once the radiator is clean.
4. Following grit blasting we then move the radiators along to our spray booth where we apply the first coats of primer in either light grey if the radiator is being painted or black if the radiator is being polished. All primers used are solvent based with anti corrosive properties.
5. The next stage is to carry out pressure testing. All radiators are hydraulically pressure tested to 6 bar, this is approximately 3 times more than most modern central heating systems will run at. This is to ensure there are no leaks from sections, gaskets and valves. If any bleed valves or air vents are found to be faulty they would be replaced at this stage free of charge. If any repairs are required at this stage they will be quoted for individually and only carried out at the customers request. All radiators tested by us carry a 12 month Guarantee.
6. The last stage is to finish the radiator to the customers desired choice whether that’s painted in the colour of your choice or hand polished.

Christina here at Blast Spray polish specialises in refurbishing old vintage furnture giving it a modern edge and feel.

She is working on an old welsh dresser to remove the dark stain.

We have blasted off the dark stain uncovering a beautiful light oak finish.

The blasting media we use on furniture is finer than the course grit we use for radiators.

Basically this is used as it doesn’t destroy the wood it enhances it.Showing all the natural grain.

Christina then sands this down and has given it a coat of clear wax.

This gives it a protective coat and a lovely shine.

So if you have any old furniture you’d like to give a fresh new look to ask for Christina (BA(hons) in Textile and surface decoration to enquire).

This is going to be polished with a high shine for our customer.

They are all cast iron, unique in their own way.

We are now starting to fully refurbish them starting with this one.

It has previously been painted which will completely take off/blast off  back to the metal.

We will then paint with a special high temperature heatproof paint ready for Dave or Alec to polish.

So watch this space for the photos of the different stages it has to go through before it’s a finished piece.

The customer had bought them in france really loved them for his house but they were rusty and had flaky paint.

We were able to fully restore them back to their former glory.

We flushed them out to get rid of all the old silt that has built up inside them.

Niall then blasted them to get rid of all the flaky paint and rust to get them down to the bear metal ready for pressure testing.

We then primed them black and Dave and Alec then polished them.

They look stunning.

You can see Dan just rubbing off the oil we put on them to protect/prevent them from rusting.So I, Christina could take the photos to then show you!!!

Niall in our blasting unit will begin to blast off, using specialised equipment, the old residue paint bringing it back down to bear metal.

It will then get a coat of matt black a specialised primer ready for Dave to pressure test and then polish it.

It’s going to look great!

It will look fantastic in someone’s living room. Could even be used as a bedroom feature.

It has detailed embellishment which will look great,once its been blasted and painted with heat prof black paint.
